Congress, White House Reach Spending Agreement- THUD Votes Expected Next Week
Thursday, December 12, Congressional and White House Leadership announced that
an agreement has been reached to finalize spending decisions for FY 2020,
including HUD. Spending packages are expected to be voted on next week before
the current continuing resolution expires on Friday, December 20.
Even though an agreement has been reached, your voice is still needed - reach out to lawmakers and the White House today to tell them to pass a responsible Transportation-HUD spending bill. Visit NAHRO’s Advocacy Action Center to send a pre-drafted letter to Congress and the White House.
It’s not yet known how the deal will impact specific funding levels for HUD programs; an agreement has been made “in principle” on allocations for the 12 appropriations bills that fund government agencies and departments, but those allocations have not been made public yet. The House is expected to vote as early as Tuesday on either one large spending package or a series of smaller packages of appropriations bills. The Senate will consider the bill or bills after approval by the House.
NAHRO will provide full analysis of the Transportation-HUD bill once legislative text is available.
